Exodus 5-8

Exodus 5-8

In this episode, God inflicts torture on an entire people in order to prove to them that he is God.  A slightly better alternative would have been some sort of mass harmless miracle witnessed by everyone.  Did God just not have the time?

  1. 6-10 Uncircumcised lips are sealed lips; a vivid way of saying that Moses was a man poor in speech (4.10-16). Ref The New Oxford Annotated Bible.

  2. I don’t really see any reason to go with that interpretation. After all the talk of the fact that Moses wasn’t circumcised? It seems plain that he means “Why should he listen to me as a spokesman for these circumcised people if I myself am not circumcised?” I’m sure there could be translation issues, but with a word that specific I think it was there for a reason.

  3. Hi Thomas, This is a general comment and I’ve included it here because I can’t find a ‘general’ comments section. I’ve been listening to you for a couple of weeks now and have got this far. I know that you are way ahead but I want to thank you for what you are doing, OMG you have such amazing patience!!
Well done and keep up the good work.
